Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS System)

The Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for the Estates Management Office (EMO) was put into production on May 1, 2002. After six months of close cooperation, the EMO, Bursary and IMU/ITSC have customized the Plant Maintenance Module and the Human Resources Module of SAP. This system implementation is for the management of operation and maintenance works on buildings, roads, slopes and other campus facilities which are the responsibility of the EMO.

The system is also integrated with the Bursary's Financial System in SAP. Besides streamlining the business processes between the EMO and Bursary, CMMS allows on-line updates and sharing of financial information (e.g. labour and/or material costs of Work Orders) relevant to the EMO.

The previous triplicate Work Order form has also been re-designed and replaced by a new A4-size perforated Work Order form. For repair and maintenance works within the University, this replacement has greatly reduced cost and improved the collection of data for further analysis. The new Works Order form sample can be found in http://www.cuhk.edu.hk/emo/document.

There will be a second phase implementation of this project for the direct input and monitoring of Work Orders by the Clerk-of-Works/Work Supervisors as well as a direct data interface between this system and the Personnel System.

Booking OSA Facilities and Materials ONLINE!
Student units and organizations can now book facilities and materials from the Office of Student Affairs (OSA) online without paying a visit to the office. The IMU/ITSC has recently assisted the OSA in developing a Web application - "The Facility and Materials Booking System".

After registering on this system, you can book facilities like rooms, halls, furniture and equipment through the Web anytime and within the campus network. Details can be checked out at http://osanta.osa.cuhk.edu.hk/booksys/login.asp.

For information on registrations or other enquiries, please go to the OSA office (Franklin 1/F), or call 26097216.
