University Software Standards - September 2002 Updates
Adopting campus-wide software standards is beneficial to the overall IT development of the University as standardization helps to facilitate intra-campus collaboration and electronic document exchange, shortens software adoption time, and reduces software training and support costs. When the latest University Software Standards were updated in September 2002, Windows XP Pro and Office XP were accepted in addition to Windows 98 and Office 2000.

In implementing Windows XP Pro, users are reminded to check

  • whether their machines have the minimum hardware configuration
  • whether the existing peripherals, such as scanners and printers, can support Windows XP Pro
  • whether the University Internal Applications being used are supported in Windows XP Pro

These University Software Standards are mandatory for administrative units but advisory for academic departments. Administrative Units should comply with the Software Standards (September 2002) no later than December 31, 2002. Please refer to http://www.cuhk.edu.hk/mcas/swstandard for more information.
