Want to know how other departments are using web conferencing? Below is experience sharing from departments which have organized online real-time meetings and seminars in the past.
Department of Chinese Language and Literature
The department used web conferencing tool to hold an online admission interview with overseas interviewees on 14 April, 2007.

Before the interview, the staff of the department had an informal meeting with each of the five interviewees from Canada and different parts of China (Guangzhou, Beijing and Wuhan) to make sure the equipment was setup correctly and the connection was smooth.

The interviewing panel of the department commented that the tool is easy to use and the connection is reliable and satisfactory throughout the meeting.

Department of Chinese Language and Literature will use web conferencing in future occasions and will recommend it to other departments.
Education Bureau (EDB) used our web conferencing service to organize a real-time seminar for secondary schools with Faculty and Science in CUHK

Below is a few remarks on the video seminar by EDB after the seminar delivery:

"A.
The web-based conferencing tool facilitates synchronous communication of university teaching staff and a large number of secondary school students at different locations for collaborative learning. This is an advantage using the conferencing tool. More importantly, students can use the web-based 'recorded lecture' with other supporting resources for reinforcement or for further learning purposes in an asynchronous manner.
B.
The use of web-based conferencing tool requires a strong technical support at the host side. Also, most secondary schools may not be able to afford buying the tool. Nevertheless, the technical demand on the client side is minimal. This is important for secondary school teachers: user friendly tool for enhancing quality of learning and teaching.
C.
The web-based conferencing tool could be coupled tightly with web-based learning management systems so that students can enjoy learning via an URL."
