1. Internet Applications

Here we will introduce a wide range of Internet applications, from e-mail services and communication applications, like newsgroup and BBS, to network services such as Hostname, Proxy and FTP. You can also watch selected Cable TV channels with our CU Net-TV, make personal homepages and even find staff and departments using the contact directory.

These applications provide you with convenient and efficient ways to access the Internet, as well as your friends and other people.

2. Campus Network

We provide high-speed Internet access, both wired and wireless, on campus. When off-campus, you can still enjoy internet connection with CUHKNet services or CUHK Wi-Fi Hotspots Partnership Programme. You can also access our restricted webpages and enjoy a higher level of data security through a VPN connection.

3. Off-Campus Access to Campus Network

University staff and students can access the campus network using their laptops at home or while travelling via a dial-up or VPN connection.

For CUHKNet and Dial-up, you need to have your Campus-wide E-mail System (CWEM) password ready for authentication. And you need to apply for a Wi-Fi account to enjoy the internet services provided by CUHK Wi-Fi Hotspots Partnership Programme.

A VPN connection allows you to access restricted sites like the databases in the University Library System, CUHK news service, CUHK Anti-virus Centre and etc. when you are away from campus.
