1.Newsgroup
A Newsgroup, also called USENET, netnews or network news, is an online discussion about a particular topic, ranging from sports to reading, academics to leisure. Through newsgroups, you can exchange your ideas with people world-wide.
1.1 CUHK Newsgroups
In CUHK, our News Server (news.cuhk.edu.hk) carries thousands of newsgroups. It also carries over 200 CUHK newsgroups as requested by various departments, courses and student organizations for intercommunication.
For example, the newsgroup moderated by the Information Technology Services Centre (cuhk.itsc.announce) is used for ITSC announcements. Access to the news server is restricted within the campus network, VPN connection or dial-up connections outside campus.

Applying for a CUHK Newsgroup
Any department, organization or course can apply for a newsgroup.
If you would like to apply for a newsgroup, please print and complete the corresponding application form (Right Click > Save As) and send it to ITSC.
