The iHome CUHK Community homepage server is developed solely for staff and students to publish their home pages there. In order to optimize for performance and stability of the server, the server is thus built as a restricted environment for web page hosting only . Services such as login via telnet, CGI developed by users, general Unix utilities and language compiler will not be provided in the server.
General-purpose Unix server (Logic)
On the contrary, the General-purpose Unix server (logic) is provided for staff and students to explore Unix environment, access various Internet applications and homepage services with CGI development. The services offered are different in these two servers. |
