- Visit built-in computer configuration and a list
of available standard software .
- You
can use the PC to access to the CUHK Campus
Network and the Internet via a VPN connection.
On the desktop, click "VPN" and
login using your Campus-wide
E-mail System account and password. The
maximum connection time is EIGHT hours
per session with one hour idle time out. And there is no limit to the
number of sessions per day per user account.
- On
using the PC to access the Campus Network
or the Internet, you are automatically abided
by the policies and guidelines specifying
in the document ClassNet
- Conditions of Use.
- If the PC fails to access the Campus Network or the Internet, please renew the ip address by,
i. Select the "Run..." command from the "Start" menu.
ii. Type "ipconfig /renew" to renew the IP address.
- If you have a lot of presentation material,
you should first save your files to a FTP
server before going to the classroom. You
can then retrieve your files on the ftp server
from the PC in the classroom. Refer to Preparing
for a Presentation in a Classroom using ClassNet
for more information.
- You
may also bring in your own PC (such as a notebook)
to the classroom to facilitate your presentation.
If you need to access to the Campus Network
or the Internet in the classroom, you should
configure your PC
to connect to the ClassNet according to the
operating system in your computer.
Preparing for a Presentation
in a Classroom using ClassNet
Note : The harddisk (Drive C) of the built-in
PC in the classroom may be protected by a hardware
device and a standard setting will be resumed
after each reboot. Any data written to Drive C
will be removed after the reboot. Hence, you should
put the presentation material in another drive,
such as Drive D, which is not protected by the
hardware device. Please be remembered removing
your files from Drive D before you leave.
The
built-in PC in the Classroom is equipped
with a 3.5" 1.44MB disk drive. If you have
a lot of presentation material and do not want
to carry the material using floppy disks, you
can transfer your presentation material to a
ftp server beforehand and get the material back
from the PC in the classroom using ftp service.
