In order to ensure fair sharing of the dial-up
resources, ITSC has implemented a time quote system
on ALL THE K56Flex modem pools (29330800 and 29330900) starting
from Monday, 14 September 1998. Below are the
highlights of this scheme :
- The
scheme DOES NOT apply to the current X2 56K
modem pools (29330633 and 29330733) until further
notice.
- You
are assigned with a weekly
time quota under this scheme. The estimation
is based on the data recorded by the system.
The quota time will be reset to its default
value on each Monday at 4am. Any unused quota
time will be cleared at the end of the week.
But the overdrawn quota time will be deducted
on the following week.
- When
your dial-up quota is reached, you will not
be allowed to make a connection to the K56Flex
modem pools again during that week. You will
have to either use the X2 56K modem pools or apply
for an additional quota on the K56Flex modem
pools.
- If
you find the default quota inadequate, you can
apply for an increase online. Application will be granted with proper justification.
- You
can also enquire about your time quota balance
of the current and the last week through Accounts Information Management System.
- Multiple
logins are prohibited by the system to prevent
the abuse of dial-up service by non-CUHK members.
The
above scheme is kept under review on a regular
basis. All the latest information on it can be
found at http://www.cuhk.edu.hk/itsc/network/dialup/quota.
