I. Password Change and Reset

You should change your computing account passwords regularly to enhance security. In case you have forgotten your passwords, you can request ITSC for a new Computing Account Information (CAI) that specifying with new sets of passwords.

1. Campus-wide E-mail System (CWEM) Account

Change Password

For student and staff account, you can change password in either way:

For department/student organization/project/guest account,

Forget Password

In case you have forgotten your password, you can request to reset password in one of the following ways:

1. Visit Service Desk in person during office hours

Our Service Desk is located in Room 109A of Pi Chiu Building and Learning Commons , 6/F Wu Ho Man Yuen Building. Present your CU Link card to consultant on-duty for identity verification and you will receive a new CAI slip with the new password printed on it.

2. Submit application form by postal mail or e-mail

The application form is downloadable here.

Return the completed form with a photocopy of your CU Link Card to ITSC by,

  • Postal mail: User Support Division, Information Technology Services Centre, 2/F, Pi Chiu Building, CUHK (please supplied with a stamped self-addressed envelope); or
  • E-mail: aims@cuhk.edu.hk

After receiving and verifying the application form, a new CAI slip with new password printed on it will be sent to you either by,

  • Postal mail if a stamped self-address envelope is provided; or
  • E-mail the next working day if personal e-mail address is provided

3. Request for sending the new password to your office by calling 3943-8845 (applicable to staff only)

Once we’ve received your request, our support staff will call you and verify your identity. After a successful verification, a new CAI slip with a new password printed will be sent to your office direct. The password will be effective within an hour.

2. ITSC PC LAN Account

Change Password

Use your current PC LAN account to login a computer in ITSC User Areas (1/F, Pi Chiu Building or Room 103, Wong Foo Yuan Building or 6/F Learning Commons at Wu Ho Man Yuen Building) or in the connected computer labs to make the change.

1. On Desktop, double-click Change PC LAN Password.

2. The SETPASS screen will appear, requiring you to enter your old PC LAN Password. For security reasons, you passwords, both old and new ones, will not appear on the screen when you type.

3. You will be required to enter the new password twice, to ensure that there is no typing mistake.

4. Your password will be changed instantly once you have successfully finished the procedures. Press any key to close the screen.

5. On Desktop, click Start and Restart. Login the PC with your account again to check whether your password has been changed.

Forget and Want to Reset Password

In case you have forgotten your password, you can request to reset password in one of the following ways:

1. Visit Service Desk in person during office hours

3.High-performance Computing Account

Change Password

Use the password provided by the facility to log into those systems.

Forget Password

The application form is downloadable here.

Return the completed form with a photocopy of your CU Link Card and a stamped self-addressed envelope to ITSC. Your password will be sent to your mailing address afterwards.

II. Email Alias and Drop Box Change
  • Via MyCUHK under Webmail tab
  • Via Login Page (for department/project/student society/course/temporary guest account)

E-mail Alias
Your e-mail address is defaulted as your_computing_ID@cuhk.edu.hk with a mail dropbox at your_computing_ID@mailserv.cuhk.edu.hk. You may change it into alias@cuhk.edu.hk by updating your information.

E-mail Drop Box
By default, your CWEM account computingID@mailserv.cuhk.edu.hk is your e-mail drop box. You can forward e-mails to another e-mail account by E-mail Forwarding at MyCUHK under Webmail tab or at Login Page.
