By using SSH, data
is encrypted during connection, and thus it is
used by many servers now. The following are procedures
to use SSH connection for WS_FTP
- Set
up a secure file transfer connection
- Upload files
- Download files
1. Set up a secure file transfer connection
a. Launch the WS_FTP
Pro by clicking Start Menu -> All
Programs -> WS_FTP ->WS_FTP Pro (Figure
1)

b. Select "Sites" from
the toolbar and choose "Add
to Sites..". (Figure 2)

c. A Wizard dialog will be prompted.
Enter a Name for your site profile in the "Name" text
field and click "Next".

d. Enter the
host computer (e.g. ihome.cuhk.edu.hk, logic.itsc.cuhk.edu.hk.etc)
you intend to connect in the "Host
Address" text field and click "Next".

e. Enter your
user id in the "User
Id" text
field and password of the account in the "Password" text
field. Click "Next" when
finished. (Figure 5)

f. Select "SFTP/SSH" in
the "Server
Type" combo box and click "Finish".
The wizard will then exit. (Figure 6)

g. Select "Sites" in
the toolbar. You will see your newly added
site profile. Click on the profile to connect
to remote FTP server. (Figure 7)

the connection has been established, you can
see your local files in the left frame and remote
