Research Assistant Professor, Department of Linguistics and Modern Languages

The Department invites applications for a Research Assistant Professorship in the newly established Laboratory for Language, Learning, and the Brain. Applicants from any disciplines whose research addresses aspects of speech and language broadly defined are welcome. Applicants should have (i) a relevant PhD degree; and (ii) experience in basic and clinical research across the lifespan. Those with experience in behavioral, neural, and genetic research will also be considered. Broad thinkers with good quantitative skills are particularly preferred. Appointment will be made on contract basis for up to three years commencing September 2013 or as soon as possible. Senior Lecturer(s) / Lecturer(s) / Assistant Lecturer(s), Department of Linguistics and Modern Languages

Applicants should have (i) a higher degree (at least at Master level) in linguistics or a related discipline; and (ii) experience in teaching courses in different areas of linguistics, preferably at university level. Applicants with at least four years’ post-Master teaching experience may be considered for appointment at Lecturer rank, and those with substantial (ten years or longer) post-Master teaching experience may be considered for appointment at Senior Lecturer rank.

The appointees will (a) teach undergraduate/postgraduate courses; (b) supervise research projects of undergraduate and MA students; and (c) undertake administrative duties.

For Senior Lecturer: Appointments will initially be made on contract basis for up to three years commencing August 2013, renewable subject to performance, funding and mutual agreement. 

For Lecturer or Assistant Lecturer: Appointments will initially be made on contract basis for up to two years commencing August 2013, renewable subject to performance, funding and mutual agreement.

Lecturer / Assistant Lecturer (French) , Department of Linguistics and Modern Languages

Applicants should have (i) a higher degree (at least at Master level); (ii) linguistics training background; (iii) experience in teaching courses in French as a foreign/second language; (iv) an interest in the development of language teaching methodology and second language acquisition; (v) experience in curriculum development; (vi) the ability to use English as a medium of instruction; and preferably (vii) experience in teaching Asian learners at university level. Those with at least four years’ post-Master teaching experience may be considered for appointment at Lecturer rank.

Appointment will initially be made on contract basis for up to two years commencing August 2013, renewable subject to performance, funding and mutual agreement.
