About us

The Clinical Research Laboratories is a research unit under the Faculty of Medicine C.U.H.K.  It is a joint-user laboratory for the clinical teaching departments at the Prince of Wales Hospital.  Users include academic and research staff as well as post graduate students. This multi-disciplinary research unit is quite unique in Hong Kong since such a set up encourages exchange of ideas and experiences from different clinical experts. Moreover, this arrangement enables sharing of expensive equipment; research facilities and supportive service.

Users of Clinical Research Laboratories come from all clinical departments in the Faculty of Medicine . This central facility provides space, large and small communal equipment, laboratory supplies, research facilities and general laboratory support as well as technical assistance to its users.  The laboratories are located on the 9th -11th floor of Li Ka Shing Medical Sciences Building at PWH.  The communal equipment are located in the various core laboratories and special rooms.

Within the Clinical Research Laboratories, there are also designated multi-disciplinary research laboratories for individual clinical departments such as Anaesthesia & Intensive Care, Accident & Emergency Medicine, Medicine & Therapeutics, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Orthopaedics & Traumatology, Paediatrics, Psychiatry and Surgery.  There are many clinical and basic medical research projects currently being conducted within the Clinical Research Laboratories by over 400 researchers from various clinical departments.
