The CUHK Comprehensive Diabetes Assessment and Education Program

This is a self-funded program which provides quality-assured comprehensive assessment and therapeutic education to diabetic patients to facilitate community doctors to improve diabetes care. The computer-generated report provides full details on risk factors, complications, target values as well as the diabetologist recommendation on treatment formulation. The missions of the Foundation include:

  1. establishment of scholarships and awards for both clinical and basic scientists in Hong Kong and Mainland China to conduct research in diabetes and related diseases
  2. collaboration with leading academic institutions and other international organisations to develop research and development programs in diabetes and related diseases, including the scientific use of Traditional Chinese Medicine
  3. organisation of scientific meetings and training courses to promote academic exchange between local and overseas investigators
  4. development of evidence-based disease management programs and evaluate their impacts on health care delivery and cost-effectiveness.
