Carcinoma of the right side of the colon occurs in the cecum or the ascending colon. In this picture, you can see a bulky necrotic tumor mass filling up the cecum. As the cecum is relatively spacious, tumor usually grows to a large size before obstructive symptoms occur. They predominantly produce symptoms due to chronic blood loss, e.g. an iron-deficiency anaemia.
