Nasopharyngeal carcinoma is one of the commonest cancers in southern China, including Hong Kong. The prototype histology is an undifferentiated carcinoma with prominent nucleoli and a distinct subpopulation of lymphocytes. As a result, it has been called a lymphoepithelioma in the past.
