- Cold aggultinins are IgM antibodies that can cause red cells agglutination (the clumpings of red cells as noted in this film)
- It is associated with mycoplasm infection in which it is polyclonal in origin
- It may also occur in an elderly patients as part of a low grade B-lineage lymphoid malignancy where the neoplastic clone may not be obvious
