- Note the giant band cells which may persist for 1-2 weeks after starting therapies (e.g. B12 or folate)
- The megaloblastic change may be normalized several days after treatments
- These abnormal band cells may be the only clue for megaloblastic anaemia after treatments in the bone marrow
