Hairy cell leukaemia#

- A B-cell lymphoproliferative disorder affecting mainly the elderly patients
- Usually presents with pancytopenia and very scanty neoplastic cells in the peripheral blood
- The characteristic leukaemic cell shows mature chromatin pattern with circumferential cytoplasmic "hairy" projections
- Shown here is a variant (non-leucopenic type) where many hairy cells are found in the peripheral blood smear.
