Cytomegalovirus (CMV) is a herpes virus causing infection in the immunocompromised patients. It often produces a severe intrauterine infection, leading to fetal death or severe malformation. Cells infected by CMV often develop a large intranuclear inclusion which is amphophilic, somtimes referred to as "owl's eye" inclusions.
