Biography

Dr. Dorothy Fan graduated from the Medical Faculty, The Chinese University of Hong Kong. She became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (FRCS) and obtained the Master of Sciences degree on epidemiology & biostatistics (MSc). Dr. Fan is the Pediatric Ophthalmology & Strabismus subspecialty coordinator of the Hong Kong Eye Hospital. She obtained Outstanding Service in Prevention of Blindness Award, Asia Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology in 2005. Her other awards include the Best Poster Presentation of the 4th International Symposium of Ophthalmology and the Best Paper Presentation of the 18th Congress of Asia-Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology.


Research interests

  1. Pediatric Ophthalmology
    Main research areas include pediatric cataract and amblyopia. Another main research focus is the evaluation of genetic mutations in patients with various pediatric eye diseases.

  2. Myopia
    Main research areas include epidemiology of myopia, prevention of myopic progression.
