Biography

Dr. Young is the Dep. Chief of Service, Department of Ophthalmology & Visual Sciences, Prince of Wales and Alice Ho Miu Ling Nethersole Hospitals and Dep. Cluster Coordinator (Ophthalmology), New Territories East Cluster. He is also the Coordinator of Corneal & External Eye Disease Service for NTEC. He is an Honorary Clinical Associate Professor of DOVS at The Chinese University of Hong Kong and Honorary Visiting Professor of STU-CUHK Joint Shantou International Eye Centre.

Dr. Young received his schooling, undergraduate medical education & postgraduate ophthalmic training in Ireland. He was a Lecturer in Ophthalmology at University College Dublin before his return to Hong Kong in 1998.

Dr. Young has over 50 peer reviewed publications & has delivered over 100 courses, lectures and presentations at major international ophthalmic scientific meetings. Dr. Young has been serving as a reviewer for more than 15 peer reviewed journals. Dr. Young was the recipient of the APAO Distinguished Service Award in 2009 and AFV Outstanding Researcher of the Year in Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences (1st runner up) in 2003.


Research interests

Dr. Young is interested in all aspects of the anterior segment. His areas of interest include osteo-odonto-keratoprosthesis, anterior and posterior lamellar keratoplasty, pterygium & other ocular surface reconstruction and cataract & lens.
