Dr. Alvin KH KWOK

Dr. Kwok is an ophthalmologist with subspecialty interest in medical and surgical vitreoretinal diseases. He has received subspecialty training in States. His dedications are patient care, teaching and research. He is the Director of Undergraduate Education and is responsible for the medical student teaching of both the University of Hong Kong and the Chinese University of Hong Kong. His current major research areas include retinal detachment especially in myopic patients, diabetic retinopathy and retinal degeneration, idiopathic and myopic macular holes, internal limiting membrane in macular diseases, retinopathy of prematurity and laser effect on ocular tissues. He has published more than 50 papers in peer-reviewed journals. He serves as the editor of Journal of American Chinese Ophthalmology as well as reviewer of Ophthalmology (the official journal of American Academy of Ophthalmology), Journal of Retinal and Vitreous Diseases and HK Journal of Ophthalmology. He also serves as the Honorary Consultant at Queen Mary Hospital. Dr Kwok has attained the highest mark worldwide among 250 ophthalmologists in the examination organized by the International Council of Ophthalmology (1995), and the highest mark in the final (FRCS Part 2) examination of the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh (1994). He has obtained a scholarship from the Li Po Chun Charitable Trust Fund (1995).
