Dr. Ricky WK LAW

Dr. Ricky Law graduated from the University of Hong Kong and obtained his BSc degree in Biomedical Sciences with first class honors in 1990 and MBBS degree in 1992. He received specialist training in Hong Kong and USA. He has special interests in cataract and lens, as well as cornea and external eye diseases. He is actively involved in clinical and laboratory research including the cultured-limbal stem cell transplantation, confocal microscopy, ocular allergy and dry eyes, anesthesia in cataract surgery, advanced phaco surgery in uveitic cataract, and molecular genetics of cataract formation.

Dr. Law enjoys teaching and skill transfers and he is now the manager of the Phaco Web-Lab. He plays an important role in the postgraduate training and surgical skill transfer education for local ophthalmologists of Hong Kong and those from Mainland China. He participates actively in community and voluntary services, particularly in the remote, poor areas of Mainland China. He spent his holidays doing cataract surgeries for the poor and transferring his skills to the local doctors in the "Lifeline Express" in July this year in Mongolia and in the Zunyi County, Guizhou Province of China last year. He is an Honorable Ambassador Ophthalmologist for SightFirst China Action sponsored by the Lions Club International. His concern extends to medical policy and reform in Hong Kong and he is currently a Council Member of the Hong Kong Medical and Healthcare Forum.

Dr Law has received numerous compliments from various patients, and he was elected the most distinguished Service Provider of all staff in the hospital for the year 2000 [Golden Hand Award 1999/2000] by patients of the Hong Kong Eye Hospital.
