Dr. CHAN Wai-man

Dr Chan is the service coordinator of vitreo-retinal sub-specialty in the Prince of Wales Hospital and of medical retina and uveitis service in Hong Kong Eye Hospital. He is also Coordinator of PWH center of FRCS(Ophthalmology) Examination and member of training committee of the College of Ophthalmologists of Hong Kong. Dr Chan specializes in vitreo-retinal diseases and has attended sub-specialist training at Louisiana State University 1998 and Vanderbilt University 1999, USA. He was awarded the Li Po Chun Postgraduate Oversea Training Fund in 1999 and received a grant form the Ciba-Vision training fund in 2000. Dr. Chan undertakes research in photodynamic treatment in choroidal neovascularization and nerve fiber analysis on retinitis pigmentosa and diabetic retinopathy of pre and post photocoagulation therapy. He also actively participates in genetic research of age-related macular degeneration, retinitis pigmentosa and high myopia. He has special interest in the state-of-the-art techniques in laser treatment for retinal and macular diseases, ICG and FFA applications in retinal diseases, and the management of myopic retinopathy and retinal vascular diseases. He has been author and co-author of more than 25 articles and letters in peer-reviewed journals.
