Students are assessed on the basis of their performance in course examinations and other assignments. The grading system is as follows:

In addition, all students are required to sit an IT Proficiency Test in their first year of attendance. Students who fail the Test will be required to attend a summer intensive course and sit the Test again in their second year of attendance. Any student who still does not pass the Test in the second year of attendance will be required to attend the summer intensive course again. Students will be barred from graduation if they do not pass the Test and have not attended the summer intensive course.

Exemptions will NOT be granted except to those students who have already fulfilled the requirement at CUHK before entering the Postgraduate Programmes.

The degree of Master of Science will be conferred upon students who have completed the prescribed coursework with a cumulative grade-point average of 2.0 or above.
