The following programmes are open for applications:

 

Faculty and PhD Student Mobility Schemes 2017-18

 

The Internationalisation Faculty Mobility Schemes and PhD Student Mobility Schemes for 2017-18 are inviting applications. Faculty members and PhD students are encouraged to make use of these schemes to pursue short-term research visits.

 

A.   Internationalisation Faculty Mobility Schemes (for faculty members) (Deadline: 13 April 2017)

The schemes aim to promote the international exposure of faculty members and the development of strategic and research partnerships with overseas universities. Faculty members are encouraged to apply to these schemes to undertake/host research visits during 1 August 2017 - 31 July 2018.

B.   PhD Student Mobility Schemes (for PhD students) (Deadline: 5 April 2017)

The programmes aim to enhance research excellence at CUHK through building and strengthening the University’s ties with selected partner institutions and to increase the visibility of CUHK as a world-class research university through student mobility. Selected CUHK PhD students will receive a sponsorship of HK$15,000-HK$50,000 while visiting PhD students will receive free on-campus accommodation. PhD students are encouraged to apply to these schemes to undertake short-term research attachments during 1 September 2017 - 31 August 2018.

Eurasia-Pacific Uninet Scholarship Programmes 2017

 

The Eurasia-Pacific Uninet (EPU) is inviting applications from PhD students and Post-Docs of CUHK for a research scholarship programme for 2017-18. The programme provides support to PhD students and Post-Docs undertaking short-term research attachments at one of the EPU member institutions in Austria.

 

Terms of Award

  • Duration of visit:
  • 1-9 months for PhD students
  • 1-6 months for Post-Docs
  • Value of award:
  • €1,050 per month for PhD students
  • €1,150 per month for Post-Docs
  • The award is meant to cover accident and health insurance, accommodation, visa, daily-life and travel expenditures.
  • Recipients will receive an additional travel subsidy of up to €730.
  • Recipients are exempt from tuition fees.
  • The Austrian Agency for International Cooperation in Education and Research will provide support on accident and health insurance as well as accommodation.

Research Summit Series 2017-18

 

To promote the University’s research strengths and facilitate the expansion of academic links for faculty members, a Research Summit Series was introduced in 2016. CUHK faculty members may apply to the Office of Academic Links for funding to host the Research Summit Series, which supports small scale workshops targeting international participants with a cutting-edge theme. Applications for the Research Summit Series 2017–18 are now open. An award of up to HK$250,000 will be provided to selected applications.

Aims

  • To strengthen the international connections of the faculty members, especially early career faculty members, in building international networks and developing sustainable research partnerships with researchers from around the world.
  • To showcase CUHK’s research strengths and its leadership role in specific research fields internationally.
  • To attract talented early career researchers to join the University.

Workshop Format

 

  • The workshop should have a cutting-edge theme and provide engaging activities centering on networking and training.
  • The workshop should cater to a small and elite group of early career faculty members and advanced PhD students from CUHK and abroad, preferably not more than 50 participants.
