Call for Applications to the Bergen Summer Research School’s PhD Conference: Transnational Migration and Global Development 20 – 22 June 2012, Bergen, Norway

The Transnational Migration and Global Development Conference will be held from 20 to 22 June 2012 in Bergen, Norway. The Conference focuses on the following interdisciplinary themes:
- Political Mobilization and Collective Actions.
- Segregated Zones of Living: Refugee Camps, Asylum Centers, Ghettos.
- Rhetoric of Exclusion.
- Precarious Lives: The Law of States Versus the Law of Peoples.
Keynote Speakers:
- Philippe Bourgois, Ricard Perry University Professor, Department of Anthropology and Family Medicine and Community Practice, University of Pennsylvania.
- Peggy Levitt, Professor of Sociology at Wellesley College and a Research Fellow at the Weatherhead Center for International Affairs and the Hauser Center for Nonprofit Organization, Harvard University.
- Laleh Khalili, Senior Lecture in Middle East Politics at the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London.
PhD scholars from all over the world will be invited to send in abstracts and up to 40 participants will be chosen to present their papers during the conference. Call for abstracts is now open online through the online application http://bsrs.no/application-form/
