  15. Confirmation and other relevant information will be sent at appropriate times.

  Note
To fully utilize student exchange opportunities and increase the success rate of student exchange applications, an enhanced penalty system will be applied in the selection. Details are as follows.

Penalty (1): Absent from an interview in a previous selection without compelling reasons -> deduction of 10 percent of the composite score of your next application
Penalty (2): Refused to accept exchange offers in a previous selection without compelling reasons -> deduction of 20 percent of the composite score of your next application (For those who joined Exchange Programme Assignation Scheme (EPAS) in the previous selection, 10 percent of the composite score will be deducted from your next application instead.)
Penalty (3): Refused to accept exchange offers in two previous selections without compelling reasons -> Future applications will not be processed

For the students who have penalty records from previous selections, i.e. the outgoing exchange selection for 2009-10 or the years before, both the old and revised mark deduction rules will be considered while calculating their composite scores.  Whichever rule(s) produces fewer mark reduction will be used in the calculation of composite score of the students’ current applications.    To be precise, if the number of mark deduction calculated from the percentage-based rules (the revised ones) is greater/higher than that computed from the mark-based rules (the old ones), the mark deduction to be applied to the student’s current application will be based on the mark-based rules (the old ones), and vice versa

(Students who withdraw their applications after the interview stage but before the deadline for finalizing choices of programmes in previous selections -> No mark will be deducted.)
