  Section 2 - Education Background  
    Do I need to provide information of my primary education or earlier as well?  
    No, please start from secondary education to your latest educational accomplishment.

  Section 3 - Academic Performance  
    What if I have seated in the same examination for more than one time, in different years?  
    For each examination, your result can comprise grades awarded in different years.  
    However, you can only submit one grade for a subject. If you have taken examination of same subject for few times, please list only your best grade and the corresponding examination year in the form.  
       
    How to input grades and GPAs in the form?  
    To input grades and GPAs in the form, please select "yes" as your answers to the questions, i.e. "Have you taken HKCEE?", "Have you taken HKALE?", "Do you have a GPA score?".  
       
    How to know the GPA(s) of my studies in summer session(s)?  
    The GPA(s) may not be explicitly written in an academic report. Please compute it yourself by dividing the total weighted converted points for courses taken in the summer session by the total number of units attempted in the summer session, inclusive of courses failed, where the weighted converted points are converted points multiplied by the number of units of the course concerned.

    What if I have taken TOEFL/IELTS test but have not yet received the score report?  
    Please select and input your test date into the appropriate fields of the choices "No, I have only registered a TOEFL test that will be held on (date)" and/or "No, I have only registered an IELTS test that will be held on (date)".  
       
    What if I have got a paper-based scaled score only?  
    Please find out the corresponding internet-based scaled score from the website http://www.toefl.org and input the score into the appropriate field.  
       
    Is my TOEFL/IELTS score resulted from a test two years ago still valid?  
    No, a TOEFL/IELTS score is valid only if it is resulted from a test within 2 years before your submission of admission documents to university. TOEFL/IELTS scores resulted from tests on or after 01/09/2007 are valid for this round of application (for exchange programmes 2009-10).  
       
       
  Section 5 - Other Language Proficiency  
    What if English is the official language of all my selected programmes?  
    If English is the official language of all your selected exchange programmes, please skip this section.  
       
    What are the non-English language requirements for admissions of the programmes?  
    The non-English language requirements for admission vary according to programmes. In general, you are required to have studied the language at least up to the level prescribed by the individual programme. You may look into the requirements here.  
       
    What if I have not taken any proficiency test?  
    For native speakers, please complete the fields as per the following instructions:  
      Language:   Select a language from the drop down list.  
      Proficiency level:   Select "Native"  
      Qualification approved by:   Leave it blank.  
      Qualification awarded date:   Leave it blank.  
       
    For those who have learnt a non-English language(s) but never taken any proficiency exam, please complete the fields as per the following instructions: (You are required to present the certificate/other forms of proof in interview)  
      Language:   Select a language from the drop down list.  
      Proficiency level:   Select from the drop down list the level of your completed language course.

    What should I input in the field "To (Month/Year)" if I am still participating in an extra-curricular activity?

  Section 8 - Employment  
    What should I input in the fields "Position" and "Job Duties"?  
    Please list your job titles together with the employment types, i.e. full-time, part-time and summer job. A brief description of job duties will be more than enough.  
           
    What should I input in the field "To (Month/Year)" if I am still engaging to an employment?  
    Please select "Present" from the drop down list of the field "Month" and leave the field "Year" blank.  
           
           
  Section 9 - Choice of Programme  
    How can I determine my choices of programmes?  
    You are advised to:      
      • Discuss it with professors and departmental advisors about your academic interests.  
      • Consider your geographic and cultural interests.  
      • Research information of the available exchange programmes and the universities.  
      • Assess your language ability in light of the requirements of particular programmes. You may look into the requirements here.  
      • Investigate the availability of courses that are relevant to your major.  
      • Consult student advisors in our office (Office of Academic Links, Lady Ho Tung Hall, Tel: (852) 2609 7597) for further information of the many available exchange programmes and their recommendations to your situation.  
           
    What if there is no programme shown in the drop down list?  
    Please press the "Retrieve" button to generate the programme list. The system will only display the programmes that you are eligible to apply in the list. If you have pressed the "Retrieve" button, but still find nothing in the list, it means that no programme is applicable to your case. Please try again in other selections.  
           
           
  Section 10 - Study Plan  
    What is the study plan for?    
    To you, it assists in your identification of interests and orientation for exchange.
 
    To interviewers, it provides knowledge for their assessments to your suitability for exchange.  
    To programme administrators, it is taken as a reference while assigning exchange programme to you, if you are a selected applicant.  
           
    What format is preferred?    
    The plan should be written in full sentences and complete paragraphs. Bulletin points and graphic presentation are not encouraged. To attach your plan to the form, you may input or copy the paragraphs onto the specific text box. Please do not write any short form of words or non-English characters in your study plan. For example, I’m, it’s etc.  
           
  Section 11 - Reference      
    Who should I contact?      
    You should approach two CUHK Professors / Associate Professors / Instructors to request for consent before inputting their information into your online application form.  
       
    Is it a must to provide referees’ information?  
    Yes, you have to provide the contact details of your referees. They may be contacted during the selection process of your application.
