  Step 1 – Prepare the Necessary Information  
  There are 13 sections in the form. Please get the information ready before you login the online application system.     
    Section 1 - Personal Information: Your particulars, general information of your study at CUHK and contact information.  
    Section 2 - Academic Performance: (a) Your public examination results in HKCEE and HKALE, if any (b) Your education background, i.e. your studies and qualifications granted from secondary and post-secondary schools (c) Your GPA(s) at CUHK, if any.  
    Section 3 - TOEFL / IELTS Score: Your TOEFL and IELTS Scores, if any.  
    Section 4 - Other Language Proficiency: Your non-English language proficiency or studies, if any.  
    Section 5 - Honors & Awards: Academic awards that you obtained at university, if any.  
    Section 6 - Extra-curricular Activities: Significant activities / hostel residence activities that you have participated in the University and/or secondary school, if any.  
    Section 7 - Employment: Your working experience (including full-time, part-time and summer jobs), if any.  
    Section 8 - Choice of Programmes: Your choices of exchange programmes.  
    Section 9 - Interview Attendance: Your preference for attending the selection interview.
(If you have completed at least two semesters at CUHK and wish to be exempted from the interview, you have to ask your two referees to complete the recommendation form and make sure the forms are submitted to OAL by 26 October 2011.  OAL will take into account your application data, the recommendations and other information while processing your request for interview exemption.  OAL reserves the final right to require a student to attend the interview. [NOTE:  Students who are in their 1st year of study at CUHK will be required to attend the interview if they are shortlisted.])
 
    Section 10 - Study Plan: Your proposed field(s) of study while abroad.  Explain in 250 - 300 words your preference to exchange programme and how the exchange experience would help you achieve your future goals.  
    Section 11 - Upload supporting documents: Your academic reports, transcripts, HKCEE/HKALE results, TOEFL/IELTS score reports and certificates of your other language proficiency, if any.  
    Section 12 - References: Your two referees' contact information. (No reference letter is required to be submitted prior to announcement of your application result)  
    Section 13 - Declaration:Your agreement to abide by the declaration statements.

  Step 2 – Learn the Important Notes  
  To get your online application smoothly done, please note the following:     
  Note 1 - Save your Form Frequently: There is a “ Save” button in each page of the form, please remember to save your draft for every 15 minutes to secure your inputted data.  
    Note 2 - Beware of Page Time-out: A (web) page of the online application will expire if you leave it idle for 20 minutes.  Remember to save your draft before you leave your workstation or switch to other matters.  Otherwise, you will need to input your data all over again into the form.  
    Note 3 - Adjust the Resolution of your Computer: Use PC resolution of 1024 x 768 (96DPI) with Internet Explorer 5.5 or higher to get the best view of the form.  You may miss some important parts if using other resolutions.  Follow this path to adjust the resolution before you login: Start Menu -> Control Panel -> Display -> Settings ->Set Screen Resolution to 1024 by 768 pixels   
    Note 4 - Use English only: Use English only for all your inputs into the form.  No Chinese or non-English characters are acceptable.  
     
  Step 3 – Create, Complete and Submit Application Form  
    Note 1   Login and Create your Application: Use your Student ID and CWEM password to login to CUSIS, select "Exchange Application Summary" to create your application.  
    Note 2   Fill in all Required Fields: Note that fields marked with asterisks “*” must be filled in with valid data.  Leave any of them empty or have them filled with invalid data will lead to application failure.  
    Note 3   Submit your Application: Applicants must click the “Submit” button (Page 4 of the form) to complete the submission of an online application to OAL.   An auto-generated email will be sent to your CUHK email account to confirm the receipt of your application.

(The 2nd placement round is only for those applicants who were shortlisted but do not receive any offer, or those who are holding a valid exchange offer from college, and receive an email notification from OAL. No new application will be accepted.)

(Once you have submitted your application, please check your email account frequently for the important messages from OAL and to ensure that the account is functioning properly, and with, at least 200KB, email storage space all the time.) 

Applications for College/Faculty/Departmental exchange (except BBA exchange, Economics Exchange, Engineering & Science exchange) should be submitted to respective colleges/faculty offices/departments.

 
     
  Step 4 – Review and Amend Submitted Application  
    Note 1   Review your Application: Use your Student ID and CWEM password to login to CUSIS and then go to “Exchange Application Summary” to review your submitted application throughout the selection period.  
    Note 2   Amend your Application Data: Before the application deadline, you can make amendment(s) on your submitted application by simply logging into the system and then pressing the “Save” button to submit the change to OAL when the amendments are done.
