Hong Kong used to be an expensive city. But with the Asian Financial
Crisis several years ago and the competitive market in Hong Kong, many
goods and services have become more affordable. There are plenty of
good buys available through careful shopping and a little bargaining
in Cantonese. Some indicative prices are: |
|
| |
|
|
| |
| |
HK$ |
| Train fare from CUHK to downtown Kowloon |
3.20 - 6.00 |
| Bus fare from CUHK to Kowloon or Hong Kong Island |
6.00 - 25.00 |
| A "McDonald's" Extra Value Meal |
21.30 - 24.80 |
| Movie Ticket |
30.00 - 80.00 |
|
|
| |
|
|
| |
However, living at CUHK
is extremely affordable as on-campus dormitories, meals at the student
canteens, and on-campus transportation are heavily subsidized. The
following tables show the fees you need to pay for studying at CUHK
and the approximate living costs at CUHK for the academic year 2008-09. |
