Step 1 - Selecting Courses

 
  Please click here to print out a study plan worksheet. Go through the following sections one by one and fill out the worksheet accordingly.  
    1. Required Course Load  
      IASP students are required to take 12 - 18 units per term  
     
    2. IAS Course  
      Exchange students are recommended to take at least 3 credit units of IAS course per term/year.  
      Study abroad students are required to take at least 3 credit units of IAS course per term.

    3. Chinese Language Course -- (Optional)  
      IAS students in different exchange/study programmes are entitled to different number of Chinese language course units. Please refer to the list here for your entitled number of Chinese language course units.  
      Click here to view IASP Chinese language course information. Meanwhile, only the following courses are available for the online course selection.  
      The New Asia Yale in China - Chinese Language Center will also provide recommendation on course and class timetable after you have completed a placement test during the orientation week.  
     
     4. Courses Offered by Faculties  
      All regular courses in undergraduate and postgraduate levels are open to IASP students, except  
        1. Faculty of Medicine courses (except some Public Health courses);  
        2. Faculty of Education courses (except Sports Science and Physical Education (SPE) courses, and those Physical Education (PHE) course with an X after the course number);  
        3. Courses listed at http://www.cuhk.edu.hk/oal/forms/forms2006/Course_Not_open_for_IASP.pdf;  
        4. Student orientated teaching (STOT) courses. STOT courses are those which start with "0" in the course code.  
      When you select courses, please note:  
        - Are the courses open to IASP students?  
        - Are the courses instructed in English? (Refer to the language column in the timetable)  
        - Are there any pre-requisite requirements for the courses?  
        - Are there any time clashes between the classes?

  Step 2 - Submitting Course Registration Request Online  
    If you have selected any of the following courses for your 2nd term study at CUHK, please use the online course selection form to submit your course registration request by 24 November 2008 (Mon).  
    Final decision on course registration is subject to approvals by respective academic departments and quota availability. The result of your course registration request will be announced on 22 December 2008 (Mon) by email and provided when you check in at the IASP Office.  
    You are highly recommended to submit course registration request online by the deadline to secure seats in some classes. Some class quotas may not be available at the beginning of the semester.  
     
     
  Step 3 - Adding/Dropping Courses  
    For the courses not included in the list above and are available in the 2nd term of 2008-09, you must approach respective academic departments in person for course registration from 5 January 2009 (Mon) - 19 January 2009 (Mon).  
    You may add courses or drop registered courses during the period.  
    Further instructions will be provided when you check-in at the IASP Office.
