As an IASP student, you will live in on-campus accommodation owned by the university and managed by CUHK staff.  All undergraduate IASP students will share a double or triple occupancy room with other students.

Please complete and submit the online “Accommodation Preference Form” on or before 21 November , 2008For those who do not submit their preference before the deadline are considered as having no accommodation preference.  They will be assigned to undergraduate hostels randomly.

Please note the following items before making your decision:

  1.

Exchange students admitted through the Colleges are required to stay at their affiliated college.

  2. In deciding on where you wish to reside, you are reminded that an extensive building programme is in progress near
the I–Houses. Therefore construction noise, dirt and nuisance as is usual near construction sites should be expected.

  3. Opting for off-campus accommodation if you have friends and/or relatives in Hong Kong who would offer you a place to live for the spring term of 2008-09, at least.  This option is not recommended for those who have no connections in Hong Kong because:

(a)

no off-campus accommodation service is available at CUHK;

(b) you will need to search for a living place and negotiate with landlords (Most of them speak Cantonese only) all by yourself;
(c) rents in Hong Kong could be as high as HK$6,000 -8,000 per person per month, excluding utilities and furniture;
(d) short-term leases are uncommon in Hong Kong.
