General Education (GE) is an essential part of the undergraduate curriculum of The Chinese University of Hong Kong. Its aims are to foster a balanced education by introducing students to knowledge beyond what they might be expected to encounter in their major disciplines; to help students develop the potentiality for integrating different fi elds of knowledge as needed; and to nurture their own judgment and sense of values.

The GE Programme in CUHK is composed of University GE and College GE, both are complementary and equally indispensable. University GE, offering over two hundred wide-ranging courses for students to choose based on their interests, stresses intellectual and academic pursuits. College GE provides student-oriented life education. The four Colleges, inspired by their respective traditions and spirit, provide rich array of College GE curricula, College life and activities, and cultivate the students' minds and hearts.
