Note 1

Language courses are for non-native Chinese speakers who are without knowledge of Chinese characters or who can identify less than 3000 Chinese characters.  Their Cantonese/Putonghua speaking is not close to native level.

Students not taking level one language courses will be invited for a written and/or spoken placement test. The first digit after the English prefix indicates the level.  According to the placement result, students will be placed in a class suitable to them, which may be different from the course/level they have applied for.  In addition, students are strongly encouraged not to study Cantonese and Putonghua at the same time.  Otherwise, language interference will be experienced. [Guidelines: Putonghua (Standard Chinese)/Cantonese Level 1 for total beginners, Putonghua (Standard Chinese)/Cantonese Level 2 for learners with less than 500 hours of study, Putonghua (Standard Chinese)/Cantonese Level 3 for learners with less than 1,000 hours of study, Putonghua (Standard Chinese)/Cantonese Level 4 for learners with more than 1,000 hours of study.]

Exchange students can enol in a maximum of two courses, of which no more than one can be a language course.  If you take more than one language course, you will be required to pay US$750 for each additional language course.  PTH-L1, PTH-L2, PTH-L3, PTH-L4, CAN-L1 and CAN-L2 are considered as two courses.

Local and international students will attend these classes.  This will be a great opportunity for you to interact with them and experience the true meaning of cultural exchange.
