A. For Physical Disables

I. Rehabilitation Bus

A Rehabilitation bus runs within the campus for transporting physically disabled students.

First priority will be given to permanently disabled students on academic related activities.

Second priority will be given to temporarily disabled persons who require to continue university activities, with the following arrangement: -

The Rehabus provides the service on pre-scheduled basis.
The request is recommended by a UHS physician (including the need and duration of use).
Transport Unit will fit the request into their timetable.

Temporarily handicapped persons below are NOT ELIGIBLE for the transport service.

Persons attending the University Health Service for initial consultation;
Persons who are on sick leave;
Persons to be transported to Accident & Emergency departments.

Rehabus operates within the campus on a pre-booked basis and is free of charge. For advance booking, please contact the Transport Office at 2609-7990.

II. Electric Wheelchair

Due to the steepness of the campus, wheelchair bound users have to use the electric wheelchair to reach the different levels. Special tailored made electric wheelchair can be loaned to the students on request.

Adjustable wheelchair tables are available at the following location:

2. Automatic Page Turner are available at the following location:

Main Library

Architecture Library

Chung Chi College Library

Medical Library

New Asia College Library

United College Library

Shaw College, Lee Woo Sing Self-learning Centre

3. Select-Ease Keyboards can be loaned to the student who have difficulties in using ordinary keyboards.

B. Hearing Defect

Simple hearing test can be performed at the University Health Centre.
Referral to specialist centre for hearing test or treatment will be made, if necessary.
Personal sound systems (Hearing Aid) can be loaned to students.

C. Vision Defect

Colour Vision Scanner (Closed Circuit TV) can be loaned to student and arranged for examination use.
PC with Supervista SVGA Interface Card, special software (JAWS & Zoom Text) are available in the following locations:

Chung Chi College Micro-computer Laboratory

Scanner with Interface Kit & Reading AdvantEdge Software can read document and image files in different formats. Located in United College Library.
Reading Edge - a machine synthesizes speech from printed text in English. Located at:

D. Others

The following items can be on loan to disabled students:

Notebook computer
Mobile phone
A six hour recorder
