Q1: What is the admission quota in 2017 entry?

A1: The admission quota is 21 for 2017 entry. (This includes JUPAS, non-JUPAS and International students. The ratio may vary depending on the academic performance of the students.)

Q2: What are the criteria for HKDSE candidate to be shortlisted for admission interview in 2017?

A2: In order to be shortlisted for admission interview, students have to meet the minimum requirements (Level 5 in English language, Level 4 in Chinese Language, Level 3 in Mathematics, Liberal Studies and the best two elective subjects. TOEFL or IELTS score is required.). Students can take reference at the JUPAS admission Grades for 2016 Entry at Office of Admissions And Financial Aid Website.

 

Q3: Do JUPAS applicants taking HKDSE need to have TOEFL/IELTS?

A3: Yes. They are required to have obtained a minimum TOEFL(internet) score of 100, or an IELTS score of 7.0 or above, before the interview.

 

Q4: When will the interviews be held in 2017?

A4: Two admission interviews will be conducted, i.e. one in early June, one in late July, shortly after the release of HKDSE results. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend the interview via email or by phone call.

 

Q5: What format will the interview take?

A5: The interviews will be conducted in English, Cantonese and/or Putonghua. The format may vary from year to year.

 

Q6: What is the weight of interview?

A6: Students will be selected for interview based on their academic results. The final decision to accept a student is based mainly on academic results and assessment at the interview. The weight for interview performance and academic results is 50% respectively. Interviewers will be impressed by candidates’ strong language abilities, positive attitude, interests in IBCE, enthusiasm in U.S.-China trade and leadership.

 

Q7: Did students need to study Economics or Accounting in Secondary School?

A7: No.Chances for Arts, Science and Business students are equal.

Non- JUPAS

Q9: Will GCEAL, GCSE, IB, SAT, OSSD results be considered in admission?

A9: Yes. Students with the above results will be considered through Non-JUPAS applications. Non-JUPAS applicants will be considered based on their academic results, non-academic achievements and interview performance(if any).

 

Q10: What is the minimum requirement for IB Students?

A10: The minimum admissions requirement for admitted to IBCE is about 40 for IB students. The score varies year to year.

 

Q11: Can CUHK Year 1 students apply for IBCE?

A11: Yes. CUHK Year 1 students can apply for admission to IBCE. To be shortlisted for an interview, students should have a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or above. Both academic performance and interview performance will be considered in the selection process. In addition, they should have obtained the minimum TOEFL/IELTS score. Successful applicants will be transferred to IBCE after the completion of their first year of study.
