Medical Education Assessment in Focus at Conference

Over 160 delegates from the mainland, Taiwan, and Hong Kong attended the Fifth Medical Education Conference for China Mainland, Taiwan, and the Hong Kong Region held from 18th to 22nd November 2001 at the Faculty of Medicine. Hosted this year by the Faculty of Medicine of the University, the annual conference is the most important function of the Medical Education Association for China Mainland, Taiwan, and the Hong Kong Region, first set up in 1997 by the medical faculties of Peking University, Yang Ming University, and The Chinese University.

The aim of the conference was to promote experience sharing among the educational professionals in the medical field. The theme of this year's conference was 'Assessment on Medical Students, Teachers, and Colleges'. Speeches were delivered by 30 speakers from universities of the three regions. Issues discussed included setting assessment objectives and criteria, total quality management in the assessment process, and continuous improvement in assessment.
