- Prof. Jean Woo, professor of medicine, has been re-appointed by the Chief Executive of the HKSAR
as a member of the Elderly Commission for two years from 30th July 2006.
- Prof. Chan Chi Fai Andrew, professor in the Department of Marketing, has been appointed by the
Financial Secretary as the chairman and a member of the Hong Kong Deposit Protection Board for
two years from 1st July 2006.
- Prof. Chen Yongqin David, associate professor in the Department of Geography and Resource
Management, has been appointed by the HKSAR Government as a member of the Advisory
Committee on the Quality of Water Supplies for two years from 1st April 2006.
- Prof. Fok Tai Fai, dean of medicine, has been appointed by the Secretary for Health, Welfare and
Food as a member of the Medical Council of Hong Kong for three years from 1st October 2006.
- Prof. Ng Pak Cheung, professor of paediatrics, has been appointed by the Secretary for Health,
Welfare and Food as the chairman of the Physiotherapists Board for two years from 1st October
2006.
- Prof. Ho Sin Yee Stella, adjunct assistant professor in the Department of Diagnostic Radiology and
Organ Imaging, has been appointed by the Secretary for Health, Welfare and Food as a member of
the Radiographers Board for three years from 1st September 2006.
- Prof. Bernard Lim Wan Fung, professor in the Department of Architecture, has been reappointed
by the Secretary for Economic Development and Labour as a member of the Energy Advisory
Committee for two years from 15th July 2006.
- Prof. Lee Shiu Hung, emeritus professor of community medicine, has been appointed by the Secretary
for Health, Welfare and Food as a member of the Health Care and Promotion Fund Committee for
two years from 1st August 2006.
- Prof. Japhet Sebastian Law, professor in the Department of Decision Sciences and Managerial
Economics, has been reappointed by the Chief Justice as a member of the Solicitors Disciplinary
Tribunal Panel for three years from 11th July 2006.
- Prof. Lee Chi Kin John, dean of education, has been appointed by the Principal Assistant Secretary
for Security as a member of the Management Committees of the Police Children’s Education Trust
and the Police Education and Welfare Trust for three years from 1st July 2006.
- Prof. Ching Pak Chung, pro-vice-chancellor, has been appointed by the Secretary for Education and
Manpower as a member of the Council of The Open University of Hong Kong for one year from
20th June 2006.
Award
- Prof. Dennis Lo Yuk Ming, professor of chemical pathology, has been selected winner of the 2006
IFCC-Abbott Award for Significant Contributions to Molecular Diagnostics by the International
Federation of Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine. He is also the recipient of the 2006
Distinguished Scientist Award for Outstanding Research Advances in the Field of Clinical
Biochemistry of the National Academy of Clinical Biochemistry, USA.
