| The Review Committee
on General Education was appointed by the Vice-Chancellor in
September 2002 to review the manner in which general education
has been offered in our University and to set new directions
if necessary for the future offering of general education. The
Review Committee has met with different parties, including student
representatives, to listen to their views. The review was completed
in September 2003 and a report was submitted to the Vice-Chancellor.
At the First (2003-04) Meeting of the Senate held
on 8 October 2003, the Senate accepted the Report of the Review
Committee on General Education on the understanding that the
implementation details would be submitted to the Senate at a
later date. The Senate Committee on General Education will deliberate
on the implementation details on 12 November 2003.
Prof. Kenneth Young, Chairman of the Review
Committee, will attend an open forum convened by the CUHK Student
Union at 4:30 p.m. on 11 November 2003 at the Cultural Square
outside Benjamin Franklin Building.
