Bao Rong

Bao Rong was born in Tang dynasty, and was active during the reign of Emperor Xianzong (806-820). Though he obtained the jinshi degree in 809, he had a chequered official career and was never promoted to a high rank. He died in Sanchuan (Shanxi province), away from his home district. Bao had considerable influence as a late-Tang poet, and was famous for the gushi and yuefu styles. His works are collected in Bao Rong ji.
