Fruit Chan 陳果 1959-

He moved to Hong Kong from Guangdong at the age of ten. Chan studied screenwriting and film-making at the Hong Kong Film Culture Centre. After working as assistant director in the mainstream for over ten years, he started to write the screenplay of Made in Hong Kong in 1995 and turned it into his feature independent debut in 1997. The film received numerous critical acclaims both in Hong Kong and overseas. Other feature films of his include Liulian piaopiao 榴槤飄飄 (Durian durian; 2000), Renmin gongce 人民公廁 (Public toilet; 2002), and Jiaozi 餃子 (Dumplings; 2004).
