Chen Jiru (1558-1639)

A Ming-dynasty calligrapher, painter, and writer, was a native of Huating. He did not pursue a career as an official, choosing instead to lead a secluded life in the mountains of present-day Jiangsu province. A prolific prose writer and poet, Chen wrote extensively on various subjects including literature and painting. His works can be found in Chen Meigong quanji [Complete works of Chen Meigong].
