Chen Jingrong (Ch'en Ching-jung) 1917-

Chen was born in Leshan and published her first poem when she was fifteen. She pursued her career as a poet in Peking from 1935, moved to Lanzhou and Chongqing and finally Shanghai, where she was closely associated with the Jiuye ('Nine leaves') poets. After 1949 she turned more to translating foreign poetry and was editor of Shijie Wenxue, re-emerging as a major talent herself in the 1980s.
