Chi Pang-yuan »ô¨¹´D (1924- )

A prominent writer and scholar, is one of the first in Taiwan to promote the English translation of contemporary Chinese literature and introduce Taiwanese literature to the Western world. Her autobiography Juliu he ¥¨¬yªe [The great flowing river], with its touching power, tells the story of her family during the many momentous events that changed the course of China¡¦s modern history. Chi is professor Emeritus of comparative literature and English at National Taiwan University and also the recipient of the 24th National Cultural Award of the Republic of China
