Cui Guofu 678?-755?

A native of Suzhou, Cui gained the jinshi degree in 726. Little is known of his early career as an official. In 744 he was appointed a Vice Director in the Ministry of Rites. In 752, Cui's association with a group that included Xing Zai and the powerful Wang Hong which conspired to stage a coup resulted in his demotion to Jingling (in present-day Hubei). He died a few years later. Cui's felicity in yuefu poetry is reflected in his forty-one extant poems collected in Quan Tang shi [Complete poems of the Tang dynasty].
