Gan Bao (Kan Pao) fl. 315

A historian at the court of the Eastern Jin Emperor Yuan. He took stories which were "left over from history" and compiled them into the collection Sou shen ji. This is an exceptionally important example of the zhiguai ('strange tales') genre, which involved making records of strange people and events in a style which mimicked historical writing.
