Huang Zhijun 1668-1748

A native of Jiangsu province, Huang was well known for his photographic memory as a child. After gaining the jinshi degree in 1721, he was assigned to the Hanlin Academy where he rose to be an editor and participated in the compliation of the Ming shi [History of the Ming Dynasty]. Subsequently he served as Commissioner of Education for Fujian, but was impeached by the governor of Fujian and dismissed from office. Huang was a fervent book collector and possessed some 20,000 juan. His own works is collected in the Xiangxie ji [Fragrant Specks] and Wutang ji [Collection of Wutang].
