Jiang Caiping ?-756

Fond of plum blossoms, Jiang Caiping was named Plum Consort by Emperor Xuanzong (r. 712-756) of the Tang dynasty (618-907). Jiang is said to have died of grief when she was displaced by Yang Yuhuan as the Emperor's favourite but she was more likely killed by An Lushan's (703-757) rebellious forces when they attacked Chang'an in 756. Her only extant poem is 'Thank You for the Gift of Pearls' collected in Quan Tang shi.
