Ji Yun (Chi Yün) 1724-1805

Born in present-day Hebei, received the jinshi degree in his thirties and later became chief editor of the Siku quanshu compiled under the Emperor Qianlong. After the project was completed in 1782, he was promoted to several senior government posts including President of the Board of War. During this period he was engaged in writing zhiguai ('strange tales') and altogether produced five collections of the classical language stories.
